Ensemble Pas à Pas

The members of the association ‘Ensemble, pas à pas’ (‘Together, step by step’) are all parents of a child that is going through, or has gone through a cancer experience. A child cancer is an immense shock and affects the whole family, but on the other hand the intensity and richness of the emotions experienced during the illness does give everybody concerned a greater insight into life.
The aim of our association is to offer support to other families in dealing with the illness, by helping them find the best quality of life under difficult circumstances.
The association is open to all members of the families concerned (the child that is ill, its parents, brothers and sisters) and will try to help people break out of the isolation at each stage of the illness, overcome the fears and create a climate of confidence between the different parties concerned (family, medical and paramedical teams, teachers etc)…
Our moral support will always respect the different opinions of everyone, be they philosophical, religious or political.
At all times throughout the illness, our association will offer it support by

  • remaining available and offering a listening ear
  • welcoming families for discussion groups
  • providing clear and precise information about the illness, treatments and care centres
  • giving advice to avoid social or educational interruptions for the child
  • facilitating care at home according to each family’s needs

The association also acts as a forum. It has no scientific ambitions or preference for one treatment or person above another, the association simply aims to answer the normal fundamental questions people will ask within the framework of child cancer (especially questions about living at home, palliative care, euthanasia etc)
