Kinderkankerfonds vzw helps children with cancer and their families by unburdening those families, providing financial support, and investing in scientific research.

A selection of our activities:

• direct financial support to families
• a specialized home care organization “Koester”
• day care for siblings of children in the hospital: “deLIEving”
• accommodation for families with a child undergoing treatment “Residentie Koester”
• research into specific techniques, medicines, or treatments via “Kikares”
• recreation at home and in the hospital with “Studio Nona”
• additional staff in hospitals
• meeting days, lectures, workshops, events
• … and many other direct and indirect initiatives.

Since its founding in 1988, Kinderkankerfonds vzw has grown from a family initiative into the largest organisation in Flanders specifically caring for children with cancer. The Kinderkankerfonds is completely independent and receives subsidy in any form. Its operating funds come entirely from donations, bequests, and fundraising activities by families, schools, and associations. Home base is Ghent, but the Kinderkankerfonds non-profit is equally active in the university hospitals of Antwerp and Leuven.
